Babies

For the years that I have been here, I mostly complain about my situation and the problem of me dealing with the children. I have always felt I don't have the proper parenting tools to raise the children. It is evident by the fact that, in this house, we always shout. Either it is a good or bad mood, we shout regardless. However, yesterday when we had to go find Grams as she was supposedly going to pick her twins up from school, we found out some miscontrued details about the little ones. It made me feel much much better about my life with the children that I look after. At least I can safely say I am not the worst parent ever!

My littlest uncle yesterday informed K about Grams going to pick the twins from school in the hours of lunchtime. I didn't get the reason for this action but he had asked K to go check on them and also help with the lift so they could all be safely gone home. At around 11.30-ish, K and I went off to do just that. We got to the school first because we wanted to know beforehand if Grams had already been there and had gotten the children. K left to the reception asking the person there. This situation took 30 minutes or so. I wondered to myself- why does it take this long to get a quick information regarding whether someone had come to get the twins?

When K returned to the car sans Grams and the children, I realised she was in there this long for other reason. It turned out, the teachers of the twins seized this opertunity to have a talk about the troubles, pertaining to the attitudes or the lack of it about the twins. For example, the teachers would sometimes during the day have a reading period in which they read a book to their pupils. The twins don't want to do with any of that and rather they'd want to play on the computer. The teachers don';t have a choice when the twins are very stubborn and they let them have this one. When twins are playing this thing on the computer and the noise would get really loud. This of course is a supposedly reading time where silence is most reserved, the teachers have to mute the sound from the computer. When teachers turn to resume their reading, the twins make the volume go up again. The teachers understandably are angry. They told K about the disobedience these kids are, and this is one example. They wanted to share that with her, being that she is the closest to the children's parents. K was obviously uncomfortable (I could see it in my head). She now has another responsibility to make uncle and his wife realise the actual situation with their twins' schooling. That's not going to be a fun task to do, telling these people their children are a nuance.

On top this, the teachers also make a comment that we already knew but didn't have the courage to speak of it with my uncle. They said that the twins are deprived of social interaction, meaning their nature is underdeveloped for their age. The only way to reduce of their social deprivation, they must go out more. The teachers also make a good case saying that if the pressure for the children to be with other children is high, maybe it could ease it abit if they go hang with their cousins. I understand this completely when I heard it. I've always felt that the twins never went outside and had never been away from Grams, beside the schooling obviously. The children therefore lack this social development where they perceive the other people are very strange. They don't want to make friends with their classmates, causing more concern to be worried about as they grow. Grams can't do anything about it, seeing she is not their parents. Her mobility range is limited to only her house. Uncle has many problems.

I can't help it but feel sympathy for the twins. They don't share at all a property with the children of their age. They don't have the means to go out to play with their classmates, and they have increasingly become a nuance to the teachers. As evidently told by the teahcers, the parents of the twins need a wake up call.

Money Woes

When did I ever complain about money, or the lack thereof? The answer is the beginning of my stay here. I can't lie that I hadn't thougt about becoming very rich one day because I have. I remember telling myself being rich is glorifying. Ofcourse I was very young then and to this day I still think the same way. Though thinking about it is one thing, turning this fantasy into a reality is another. I have strides to become richer. When my mum was here, I was very controlling with the flow of finance in our house. I had ensure that the money being spent will never outweigh the inflow of it. There was always a small portion that go into savings. Mum and my sister were somewhat agitated by my accouting ability as it would mean they couldn't wastefully manipulate their urge to buy. It was the good of times for my inner accoutant.

K, this morning, approached me in want of a chat about spending the money. She was getting Jord to his firat maths tutorial, and the teachers charge three hundred-ish for their service. Today is also the starting day for both the children's Chinese start which also need money to compensate for the service the teachers there are offering. The amount for that class is less than the maths lessons. Both costs amount to $600 that we don't have the money for. I protested that I don't wish for the children to join these extra activities and thus it is not our responsibility to pay for them. K looked at me and was more vocal than me when she spoke of that the money that we are spending on them now isn't ultimately ours in the first place. So what is the harm in that spending?

I have to clear up something here first, before we venture any further. The money that we receive on a weekly basis is for the paid job of looking after the kids. The douche bag couple doesn't know this, but ever since I didn't want to have any relation to them whatsoever after which time we have to leave this place, I have decided that I will repay them the whatever money I will then have with me. So all the amount that are accumulating in my saving will go to them when I leave this sh*thole. K agreed to my deal. Got it?

K's argument was that the money will go to them anyway, so the amount that we pay to the classes are theirs in the end. In this respect, they are paying, just that they don't know it yet. I get that but K's and my logics are very different. I thought that if we save more than we spend, then the repayment will look bigger so they will have a hard time feeling guilty for the mistreatment they did to us all these years. If we run a deficit in our weekly account, the total sum will of course be smaller and thus we will probably be accused of spending the sums. They will not know about the payments that were made toward the services that they wanted anyway, thus in the end we will look bad like heavy spenders of what would've been their money.

I don't know but in the end I did withdraw my case. I just couldn't bare feeling about the emptiness within me, whenever we talk about it. It's not my money, so whatever happens to it is non of my business. I told K not to talk to me about money again, because I am fed up arguing over this. If the douche couple didn't know that the classes they wanted for the children are costly and they never realised that someone must've paid for it, and more importantly, they never connected the two together over the decreased sum of their cash returns, then it is their issue. That's all I have to say about it.

This Week

Ok this week was somewhat ordinary. Monday was supposed to be the kids' first day return to school after the two week break, but it turned out it was teachers' only day. They remained home for what was a quiet afternoon. Moving on to Tuesday, it was a pleasant break for me when the kids and K had gone to school and work, respectively. I had the house to myself. Though, I did spend the first half of the free time sleeping as that morning, I woke up very early to prepare breakfast and lunch for school. I felt I had a zen moment for the first time since the school holidays.

WEdnesday and Thursday were similar to Tuesday, in regard to the activities that were performed. Got up early and made breakfast and lunches for the kids, with me going to sleep immediately after the kids were off to school. Spent the afternoon either watching the tv or playing on the computer. Felt decrepitated and lonely actually after having done absolutely nothing in terms of productivity.

Firday was obviously the day in which K received her laptop. SHe had been overzealous about the laptop, waiting for the last week. She couldn't stop talking on the late delivery. Of course as I had previous posted a writing about it, she finally got it yesterday. She had the whole time installing and downloading stuff for the new item. The day was ordinary, with nothing to report apart from the laptop.

Today was same in this regard. Jord went to this Maths lesson for the first time. The maths tutorial was the douche bag's idea initially when he was told by this other person whose child is in the tutorial as well and is performing well in school, as a result of it. This revelation had led the douche bag to want to become the superdad that he never was and forced this already stressful child into another class that he doesn't really need. Anyway, K was just following some instructions and she wasn't Jord's parent to overrule this ridiculous idealogy. Despite my and K's disapproval, Jord went anyway. To my astonishment, he liked the class because apparently he is very good at the activities that they were offering to him. He even said the teacher had told him he was the fastest performer in the class (later K had told me he is infact the youngest in there and therefore his activities were more lower level than others). It was all good hearing about his enjoyment, even though I initially assumed he wasn't going to like it.

I want to talk more the extra curricullums that the douche bag is pushing the children to do. Jord has Chinese class, in which he is desperately struggling with, and he of course has the everyday schooling that he is not, in the least, coping. Of course being the good Chinese man that he is, he is making the kid succeeding in life by stuffing work after work without ever thought of his actions would potentially make the child insane. He doesn't know it but he is trying to kill the child... ALIVE!

Anyway, through the day, Ju went to her Chinese class, and Jord was supposedly going after his sister's class had finished. Since the other child that was meant to turn up with him didn't show when was instructed, his class was cancelled, much to Jord's amazement. Ju did her Mathletics after her shower, and the rest of the day had joined the boring outline that most Saturdays ordinarily see.

The Delivery

The package has finally arrived! After three weeks of long awaited anticipation, the package has made its final destination here this morning. THe door knocked at precise 7.15am, as I was in the proceeding of making breakfast. I hesitated for one second (as usual) before realising what the knock could be bringing with it. So I went to greet the mailman before accepting the package. Brought it to the dinner table, then I felt it wouldn't be fun to just give her the news this easy way. I hid the package in the closet.

My sister rose to greet the day with little strength as it seemed. I understand the sentiment because that is what my normal feelings would be. This morning, however as I knew about the delivery, the mood was different. She did the usual by getting the kids prepared. They were brushed, cleaned, dressed and fed as the routine has been dictating them do for their short school lives. Jord, the younger sibling, who had gotten up earlier with me and knew about the package as well, broke the news to K (without consulting with me first), to which K was highly excited about. Afterall, she was very much anticipated for it since late last week, when the delivery should have beem made. For the last two days, she had been calling the service people at the company which provides the package about its intent delivery date. It was good to see that happening in eventuality, and that is today. My sister didnot open it immediately and proceeded to wait until the kids are put to school first.

So what is in the package that my sister has been longing for in the last couple of weeks? THe answer is of course the laptop that she ordered with my big brother prior to his departure. The waiting part was killing my sister because it is one of the cruelest games to play. Heck, she's playing the game as we speak about something else that is more grave. Nonetheless, the laptop is here. Finally.

The Week That Was

The last four days were particular difficult for me. Not that it had relation to the kids being shouty at home, but it was the absence of the internet. We overused the data capibilities and we had to wait for the 18th to come in order to get back to the full usage again. WHen I say 'we', I actually meant me, myself and I. Nonetheless, it's all over and I'm elated for that.

Moving on to last week's events- it was good for most of it. For most days we were out doing whatever to kill some time. On Monday, we remained at home due to that we weren't prepared for outdoor adventure. Tuesday was a bit disappointing because it wasn't going according to our plans. Initially, we were going to the cinema to catch a kiddy film with the children, but upon answering a telephone call from Gramps, I knew we weren't going. Instead our impromptu call led to us her house as Gramps is doing a ancestrial ceremony in celebration of our great grandmother who was born on that day. So when we got to her place, she already prayed and the foods (loads of them) were just awaiting for our arrival. We ate and stayed there until time to come back home.

Wednesday came and it better than expected. For lunch, we headed to Choi's BBQ, where they served Korean foods. I enjoyed most of what I had (mostly pickled vegetables, and rice with fried stuff), and the kids were themselved liked what they had. K ordered a vegetarian meal in accordance to her new found enlightment about life. After which, we went to the library for the remainer of the available time and of course came back home.

Thursday was indifferent to Wednesday's activities. Ate outside and spent time doing nonsense stuff to pass the slowly moving time. I was angry on this day. I think it was partly because of the internet being down, but I believe majority of my anger was a result of the parents' actions that have indirect effect on me. The oppressed was sick and she was acting in funnily ways at home, to show her illness. I guess I was falling for her trap because by the time the morning comes, I was not getting a good sleep thinking of the guilty that I should be contributing more to aid her sickness. K, on the other hand, convinced me not to bother about it, which I did, though not successfully. I was yelling at the kids, especially the girl when they were annoying inside the car on our way to the shopping mall. I apologised to them later on of course. The point that I'm trying to make is the parents have controls over me by ways that are indirect of their actions, which I felt too guilty to fall for. That's one of the reasons I hate for being here, having to see them every single day looking like death is just short breaths away. It's depresses me, to add on my troubles already.

The following day was the same as the day before due to the similar activities that followed. The only difference was going to the park where the kids played for over 40 minutes. It rained which brought with it the end of the children's playtime and we made our trip back to the haunting house.

Saturday and Sunday were ok, in regard to the absence of boredom that usually comes to visit on the weekends. Saturday was plain because there was nothing interesting to report. Sunday, though, was more productive. We got on the car around 11am and took the trip the shopping mall for the third time this week. We bought some pj's for the children, because K didn't think they had any. I acquiesced but my mind didn't think so. The library was our next destination and finally the shoe shop to get K a pair of slippers. She bought a pink, curve balls pair, which was different. I think she wanted to make a point. Anyway, that is the weekend that we had and I think it was slightly better than most weekends we would otherwise have.

The week was overall good. As you can see, we did things out of the norm like going to a Korean BBQ place, where we haven't been to before. We made arrangements to kill the time and majority of the time spent inside the shopping mall was nice. It was telling to see the children were enjoyng the time we spent with them. Now I am SOOO looking forward to the return of the school term, and I can't especially wait for the solitude when the children get back to school.

Gibberish

I can't write nor read. This is so silly. In ten years I've been trying to learn how to read and write, I still come up short in the process. There will forever the little errors. I would sometimes mispelt an easy word, or the grammar is not right. These happen when I try to blog. As for my reading, I sometimes can't comprehend an easy to read piece of writing. What is wrong with me? Is it because of my insomnia? Or am I unknowingly dyslexic?

For one, I don't think the dyslexia is the culprit of this block. I remember I could read simple words early on in my educational life. I remember being about to spell out words before this. This would mean that the reason behind my blockness is that many insomniac nights that I've been having. This still doesn't prove anything though. I remember that when I was young, around my high school years, I was in the similar territory of not being able to produce a piece of writing worth reading. I couldn't read a long and sophisticated novel either. My English grades weren't spectacular, nor were they poor. So what is the true reason for this block. I can't get it.

Edit- Ok, I have to apologise for this post about nothing. It's just that it frustrates me greatly about my inability to write something worth reading. I just couldn't produce a quality writing. I hope my nagging is not too bad that makes you want to kill yourself.

Buddha Day and the Open Home that Shoudn't've Been

Apparently, yesterday was Buddha Day. I'm not exactly sure if it really is the day of Buddha, nor do I know what the day's traditions consist of. Nevertheless, the day was enojoyed greatly by us as the kids were having a good time at the temple where it was mainly celebrated. They showed up at 2pm to the celebration. Awaiting them were many activities including face painting, lacing bead necklaces, stage performances, etc. I didn't attend because I don't like public gatherings. Hearing the children were enjoying themselves was great news to their thus-far boring holiday. K, who was taking them, was also into the festivities. Glad to hear that, since I felt guilty for not helping out.

Earlier that day, K and I, plus the kids, were going to an open home. The house wasn't just a random property we were peeping around, but it was the very one my smallest uncle is planning to buy. He and the real estate agent had already discussed the purchasing of the property, and my uncle just needed second or third opinion from us. I ended up not going in because Jord was falling asleep inside the car on the way to the house. K, however, did see the place and liked it.

Her opinion was voiced in favourable light, telling uncle that it is a good home to live in. The street in which the house was situated on was small, therefore not many cars travelling on it, which is good for his kids if they wanted to roam around. It is also close to the beach and there is a view of it if you go up stairs. The house has three bedrooms, with the garage could act as a potential convertible living and sleeping space. The backyard is spacy and cosy at the same time. All sounds good? Well, there is one issue K had raised in her evaluation. THere were molds on the ceiling and wall of the bathrooms when she went in to check it out. The molds were only present on the surface and hasn't penetrated through the walls yet. She took a look at the builder's evaluation of the house that the current owners had requested, it showed there isn't a structural issue nor there are pests or the likes live within the walls. So this had made K readjusted her view of the molding looking walls in the bathrooms. Uncle was generally in agreement with K on her views.

What I didn't like about the real estate agent who is selling the house to my uncle was his arrogance. I didn't like him at all, although I hadn't met him in person. My uncle told my sister, in which she was direct method of me learning about the agent. She told me that my uncle had offered an amount that he wanted to buy the house at, and the agent said the owners apparently agreed to it. He (my uncle) signed some papers early on- I don't truly what they were. This was all good, until the agent went ahead with the open home inspite of the agreement. I can't comprehend this sort of dealing. IF there is an agreement to which the house is in the process of name of transfer, the process that the house is being sold, then why is he still having the house on the market and having people come see it on the Sunday that we turned up?

It was silly business, in my opinion.

What was even more stupid was my uncle's decisions. I get that after seeing my other uncle moving into his new house last weekend, when the party was the official inaguration of their permanent house move, my smalles uncle was envious. That is not the way to do an business, especially if it is the business of getting a house in a hurry. The agent screwes it up (I personally think so) by placing the house on the market, in ignorance of the already agreed price. My uncle had to make a more stupid move to sideshow someone else's mistake. THe agent was obviously playing my uncle. He was having the open house to see if there were more interested buyers to draw the price even higher. What if there were more interest parties wanting the property, what would my uncle do then? He should've been more vocal about it all, demanding that the agent should cancel the open house, or he won't buy it. This ultimatum would make the agent think twice and it would also mean that, if the agent agreed to his demand, there wou'dn't be any risk of not losing the house to some other people. I'd also like to see if my uncle got balls to get what he wantes. Instead he let it all pan out in favour of the agent. I can't be more judgemental about it, really since it is not my property and it's not my money. In the end, the house still goes to my uncle since there weren't people willing to pay the amount higher than my uncle. He got lucky.

Work on a Saturday

I'm off to work in about 15 minutes. Yeasterday night as she was heading to go to bed, the oppressed drew last few breaths for the day, told K that she wanted us to replace her at work today. This impromptu interception in my planning for today had me cancelled the the date with my brother and his wife. They were going to take me and the children out to lunch as this will be their last day until their trip to Aus. However it is, I still have to be at work due to my oppression under this roof. I couldn't reject the oppressed's asking for help. I wanted to, but becaue I live with her, I couldn't do that to her, to make her get even more angry at me for already contributing nothing. The children will be with her, of course, so that is the plus side of it all.

What made her ask us to help all of a sudden? Well, for starters, she didn't ask us. She was actually telling us to get our butts up to make her life easier. She does it all the time. Even when we don't want to, there is no denying that when occurrences like this happen, you can't really wriggle your way out except obey as told. I've always hated that because it makes me feel like I was a tool for using when convenient. Sure I'm doing nothing anyway, so I could always offer assistance. The way she portrays herself just makes the whole issue more problematic.

The other thing as to why she wants our help today is that all week she's been slaving herself away at work. This comes to nobody's surprise because as she comes back home each day, her immediate action was to lie down on the sofa, deep breathing. SHe does this almost to tell me about her sinister life story in the deep breathing that she takes. This action has made me more compelled not wanting to help. For one, she does it to draw sympathy and I am not the sort of person to do this to. I can't stand her acting up. I already got my own worries and there is no more room for her problems too. Secondly, the fact that she 'thinks' she's exhausted from overworked is ultimately her own issue. I wasn't the one who made her work over twelve hours aday. I wasn't the one who told her to stand and no rest in her work hours. I was never endorsed any behvaviour to contribute to her over exhaustion. All the actions that she TOOK and all the problems are HERS. At yet, she doesn't see it. She still feels somebody is owing her life, and it is us who has to deal with it.

All these factors that lead her to make us go to work, inspite of our plans. We couldn't deny her because it is her house afterall. I couldn't deny her because I would then be seen as unreliable, which is so true. All you could do when told is just to obey. That is why we're heading to work now.

Peer-renting

Gramps came to visit us yesterday. She felt compelled to come and check us on the kids. I believe she still hasn't trust us with the role of guardianship to the children despite the fact that this has what I and K been doing for the last four years. The sad thing is she herself isn't a good caretaker as well. Many of her shoutings and ramblings about the condition in which to lay the rules on the children are indication to her lack of a disciplinary guideline to the children. In fact, as I was observing her deal with them, she often would scream at them for their misbehaviour than educate them. This goes to show the cluelessness of people surrounding me, especially those who are in the shoes of what they themselves think is the "mature" roles.

Anyhoo, the day was a disaster yesterday due to the lack of conversation between us and Gramps. She thought her presence would help out with the parenting, but apparently not. It just added on the tension within me to want to not look after the kids properly. Normally I wouldn't allow the kids watch this much television and make do other things. Having gramps and her twins here would mean that I couldn't get the tv switched off, in that the twins like to watch it. My children, therefore, stayed with them to consume as much tv time as they could, leading me to not want to deal with them. That was the problem. We just have different opinions in dealing with little people. She wants to get well behaved by enticing them with the tv. I hope she doesn't come back today, not that I don't like her. I just don't want us to clash on ways to look after those little ones.

The Party

The party began before we arrived. And what was our arrival time? It was approximately 4pm and when we got there, there were already some people present. The initial atmosphere was good because the people that were already present were having BBQ. I think the party itself was awesome, the best one I've been to anyway.

The foods-
One thing that was worth the most compliment was this- the foods. There were many varieties, one of which was my favourite, the classic meat on the stick bbq. It was also the popular choice among the partygoers and for me as I ate it so much. There were also deserts, Cambodian style puddings, and jelly. ONe notable desert was the durian jelly which K was also partial to. They also have curry to accompany the already loaded treats there. I have to applaud my uncle's wife for the foods. She made them exquisitely and I have to go back to ask her for the recipes.

The crowd-
At the time of my arrival, there were already some people present. These people I didn;t know of. As the time went on, people began arriving in packs. Families, after families, coming with their children. By the time six o'clock arrives, the house was fully packed. My dad's cousin (I think because I don't remember his relation to my dad) came with his Thai wife and their daughter. I overheard him asked my aunt what is our current situation, to which my aunt replied with less enthusiasm about the question. He got the message and backed off. My mum's friends from before she left here were present as well. They were genuinely nice people. My sister chatted with them for a few short seconds and they were off to mingle with others. I liked the excitement atmosphere that was truly in the air that night.

THe hosts-
They were superb. ALways laughing.

Overall, the party was great. IT was my first major party that I had attended. Although I spent most of the night keeping to myself, the foods and the busy buddies there kept it going for me. I congratulate the hosts for their awesome party.

Housewarming Party

The kids are going to be with the parents all day today. HIP HIP HURRAY!!!!!!!!!
The day couldn't get any better because by the evening we will be going to my eldest Uncle's house warming party. The key thing is that we will be away from the house for the most of today, and we don't need to coook. Heh.

The house warming party is my Uncle's open invitation to everyone in the family and his work colleagues and friends. I'm not sure of the reason behind inviting so many people (I heard from Gramps that he's booking ten tables at this restaurant for the occasion). I guess they are happy and they want to seize this opportunity to flaunt that. Good on them for doing that. I just love that the douche bag and the oppressed will get to see this and be envious of my uncle. ANd then justice will be served once again.

I already saw the new house. It is situated again the main street from the house I'm currently at. The house consists of five reasonable sized bedrroms- one bedroom is downstairs while the rest are upstairs, two bathrooms, one nice looking kitchen, etc. Basically the house has all the functions that all houses got. One thing I didn't like about the house was that it seems cold to me. The walls were greyish in colour (though, some variants were used upstairs), I just didn't get the many doors that they had. At the time I was there last Friday, the house seemed poorly dimmed. I hope it was weather that caused this, aye. Anyway, it is not my house so I can't judge it. The family who will live in the house is all happy about it, that's all it is concerned.

And oh, today, I should take as much joy out of it as possible since I won't be sharing the love anytime soon for the next couple of weeks for the kids' holiday.

Good Friday

Before the day had even started, the light hadn't shone, and the kids were still snoozing, I woke to the headache. In the wee of the morning, I was thinking I was contracting cancer from the many hours using the internet. You see, as I had mentioned before in the another post, I have the TV and the computer stationed next to each other. The wireless internet is situated above the computer. This had caused me to think I was getting the radiation from all these devices simultaneously and thrice the potent because of their close proximities. My mind was occupied with that thought all morning, resulting in my sleep deprivation.

After around 9 when I finally truly woke up, I headed out to have breakfast. The mood was indifferent- the kids were catching their early morning tv programme on one tv while K was watching Doctor Who on the other. THen I proceeded to asking her for her opinion if my behaviour this morning was paranoia or real concern to be taken serious. She answered them dismissing the myth that internet can cause cancer and the tvs also don't let out that much radiation to cause alarm. The migraine that I was having was probably due to my persistent worrisome or depression. However if that the migraine doesn't go away I should go see a doctor about that, she added. I only hope she is right.

After breakfast, we received a phone call from my eldest uncle. He asked us out to the Chinese restaurant to have yum char. As we just had our breakfast not long ago, we consumed very little by our usual standard. Uncle invited other people, whom I don't know. By the end, we were invited to Uncle's new house. We were given a tour of the house which was cool. It has five bedroom, two bathrooms, reasonable sized kitchen, nice backyard, and the living room seemed cozy. Overall, it was nothing sort of the definition of a nice family home. So my day was good considering it could be worse if we weren't going out.

Term One Ends

The kids got back home today, marking it officially the end of their first term, and the beginning of the holiday. The kids were excited about that. I, on the other hand, was less enthused because of you know what. They will haunt me for the holiday duration.

Moreover, the kids will be miserable under my supervision over the holiday period. I know for certain that the kids will misbehave one way or another, and this will result in me getting angry over their naive actions. The bottom line they will hate me for being loud to them, just because they are just simply doing the normal stuff as other kids, etc. My reasoning to them would be that I can't stand annoyance, to which we all know is an excuse. Anyway, I will just learn to cope since the coping is pretty much a mastered artform I have been doing since day one.
