Earlier that day, K and I, plus the kids, were going to an open home. The house wasn't just a random property we were peeping around, but it was the very one my smallest uncle is planning to buy. He and the real estate agent had already discussed the purchasing of the property, and my uncle just needed second or third opinion from us. I ended up not going in because Jord was falling asleep inside the car on the way to the house. K, however, did see the place and liked it.
Her opinion was voiced in favourable light, telling uncle that it is a good home to live in. The street in which the house was situated on was small, therefore not many cars travelling on it, which is good for his kids if they wanted to roam around. It is also close to the beach and there is a view of it if you go up stairs. The house has three bedrooms, with the garage could act as a potential convertible living and sleeping space. The backyard is spacy and cosy at the same time. All sounds good? Well, there is one issue K had raised in her evaluation. THere were molds on the ceiling and wall of the bathrooms when she went in to check it out. The molds were only present on the surface and hasn't penetrated through the walls yet. She took a look at the builder's evaluation of the house that the current owners had requested, it showed there isn't a structural issue nor there are pests or the likes live within the walls. So this had made K readjusted her view of the molding looking walls in the bathrooms. Uncle was generally in agreement with K on her views.
What I didn't like about the real estate agent who is selling the house to my uncle was his arrogance. I didn't like him at all, although I hadn't met him in person. My uncle told my sister, in which she was direct method of me learning about the agent. She told me that my uncle had offered an amount that he wanted to buy the house at, and the agent said the owners apparently agreed to it. He (my uncle) signed some papers early on- I don't truly what they were. This was all good, until the agent went ahead with the open home inspite of the agreement. I can't comprehend this sort of dealing. IF there is an agreement to which the house is in the process of name of transfer, the process that the house is being sold, then why is he still having the house on the market and having people come see it on the Sunday that we turned up?
It was silly business, in my opinion.
What was even more stupid was my uncle's decisions. I get that after seeing my other uncle moving into his new house last weekend, when the party was the official inaguration of their permanent house move, my smalles uncle was envious. That is not the way to do an business, especially if it is the business of getting a house in a hurry. The agent screwes it up (I personally think so) by placing the house on the market, in ignorance of the already agreed price. My uncle had to make a more stupid move to sideshow someone else's mistake. THe agent was obviously playing my uncle. He was having the open house to see if there were more interested buyers to draw the price even higher. What if there were more interest parties wanting the property, what would my uncle do then? He should've been more vocal about it all, demanding that the agent should cancel the open house, or he won't buy it. This ultimatum would make the agent think twice and it would also mean that, if the agent agreed to his demand, there wou'dn't be any risk of not losing the house to some other people. I'd also like to see if my uncle got balls to get what he wantes. Instead he let it all pan out in favour of the agent. I can't be more judgemental about it, really since it is not my property and it's not my money. In the end, the house still goes to my uncle since there weren't people willing to pay the amount higher than my uncle. He got lucky.
